About

About Welcome Committee

The Welcoming Committee plays a vital role in ensuring new visitors and members feel embraced and integrated into the UUCF community. This committee organizes greeters for Sunday services, distributes welcome packets, and coordinates with other groups to support new member orientation and inclusion. It organizes special events -- UUCF's PrideFest booth, Drag Story Hours, brunches with guest speakers, and adult education courses -- and facilitates partnerships with other organizations in our community and social justice networks across the state. It ensures our congregation fulfills the UUA's Five Practices of Welcome Renewal each year for LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and keeps the congregation updated on current social justice action opportunities. The Welcome Committee helps sustain a culture of hospitality and openness in alignment with UU principles.

Allison Murray-Nikkel

Chair

Allison Murray-Nikkel (she/they) aims to call forth the light of love in every being they encounter through lay ministry, inclusive facilitation, social justice collaboration, and singing & songwriting. With training in music & theatre and experience as an early childhood educator specializing in Universal Design for Learning, she brings an eye for keen observation, an ear for deep listening, a heart for honest connection, and a mind open to transformation everywhere she goes.

As the chair of the Welcome Committee of their Unitarian Universalist congregation, they find joy coordinating initiatives in outreach, belonging, diversity & equity, volunteerism, and community activism, as well as adult religious exploration. She and her beloved partner recently celebrated a miracle in the birth of their first child, and are delighting in newborn parenting.
